Stress Response Evaluation in Burlington WI
Do you have stress in Burlington WI? The brain coordinates all of the systems in the body and therefore affects healing potential. It is well known that unmanaged stress is associated with chronic disease and poor brain function.
What is a Stress Response Evaluation in Burlington WI?
This noninvasive, state of the art technology allows us to measure brain waves, respiration, heart rate, heart rate variability, temperature, skin conductance, and muscle tone. The doctors utilize these metrics to determine the root cause of symptoms in each patient case.
Your Body & Stress
We have a built in warning system that picks up on different threats and alerts the body to be ready to respond. Most of this reaction occurs below your conscious awareness and triggers a cascade of protection responses such as increasing blood pressure, heart rate, hand moisture, muscle tension, and breathing. This warning mechanism is coordinated by your nervous system, which is the master control system of your body.
Stress is a threat. Even low levels of stress over time can have drastic consequences on performance and well-being. Stress is an internal response to an external stressor; throughout our lifetime, we will always be confronting stressors. The "stressors effect" involves several factors and is determined by: the intensity of the stressor, the duration of the stressor, the level of previous damage to the stress response system, and the ability of the system to return to an ideal balanced state.
As current research is now claiming that 95% of all illnesses are the result of a lack of the body’s ability to re-establish normal balance, it only makes sense that we learn what must be done to bring the body back into an ideal and balanced neurological response. The Stress Response Evaluation measures these responses.
What is the Stress Response?
- Healthy Response: The body is aware of the stressor and responds appropriately. Once the stressor is gone, the body returns to its recovery and resting state to reorganize and replenish itself.
- Poor Response: If the stress response does not recover, we have a stuck stress response—one that continues to be triggered even after the stressor has left. This accumulates as a pre-stressed system which then fails to self-regulate into recovery.
- System Failure: If the poor recovery continues, what can result is a chronic exhausted stress response. This state now involves the relationship between the nervous system and the immune system. The immune system has become overwhelmed and over-reactive.
Recent brain research shows that how you respond to—and recover from—stress may be a better indicator of your current (and future) health, than any other factor including your age, your sex, your weight, whether or not you smoke or exercise…or even if you have high blood pressure. This is why we use The Stress Response Evaluation to measure this stress response in your body.
